Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant – Gonarezhou Conservation Trust

The Gonarezhou Conservation Trust presents an opportunity for individuals who are passionate and competent in the Monitoring and Evaluation discipline. Suitably qualified candidates from local communities and beyond are therefore invited to submit their applications for this position.

Duties

  • Data coordination and reporting, including coordinating the collection, analysis and sharing of data with a specific focus on creating quarterly and monthly reports for donors and partners

  • Performance monitoring by generating regular performance reports and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the progress of projects and programs

  • Data management and quality control by ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data through cleaning, providing feedback to team members, and conducting regular quality assessments and spot checks on databases

  • Confidentiality and storage of data by collecting, updating and securely storing all data in a confidential manner, adhering to both GCT and donor data protection policies

  • Project evaluation by supporting baseline surveys and internal evaluations, including conducting routine project visits to ensure compliance with GCT’s values and ethics

  • Communication support by collecting and documenting photos, human interest stories and other significant stories from the projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural or Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related field (a certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation is an added advantage)

  • Minimum of one year of professional experience in a Monitoring and Evaluation role

  • Proficiency in M&E system implementation, both quantitative and qualitative research methods, and experience with fieldwork and community engagement

  • Expertise in MS Office is essential; familiarity with tools like SMART, Kobo Collect and Power BI is desirable, as is a background in spatial analysis software like ArcGIS or QGIS

  • Strong communication, facilitation and training skills with the ability to speak and write in English (knowledge of the Shangani language is a desirable bonus)

  • Detail-oriented with good analytical skills, capable of working both independently and as part of a team
