Human Resources Manager – Local Company

An exciting opportunity has arisen at a leading Zimbabwean-based distribution company for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join the Human Resources Department as a Human Resources Manager. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
Duties
-
Human Resources Planning:
-
Develop and implement an effective HR strategy in line with the business strategic direction.

Develop and review all organizational structures to ensure alignment with business strategy.
-
Develop and maintain appropriate skills, competencies matrix, and succession plan for the organization.

Develop and submit for approval the annual training budget and development plan for the company.
-

Human Resources Policies & Procedures:
-
Develop and implement relevant HR policies and procedures that support business strategy and employee welfare.
-
Provide guidance and support to management and staff on the proper application of HR policies and procedures.

Performance Management:
-
Train staff on the application of the performance management system.
-
Provide guidance and support to management and staff in the proper application of the performance management system, policy, and procedure.

Ensure all employees have comprehensive and signed-off performance contracts.
-
Coordinate and consolidate the performance appraisal process in the organization.
-
Review and evaluate the effectiveness of the performance management system.

Talent Acquisition, Development, and Retention:
-
Resource the organization with employees with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and attributes.
-
Coordinate annual training needs assessments and compilations.
-
Develop and monitor the effective implementation of the annual training plan.
-
Develop and implement approved talent retention plans.
-
Plan, recommend, and implement employee development programs to meet identified needs.

Industrial Relations Management:
-
Facilitate a conducive IR environment through effective structures, engagement, and relationship management.
-
Provide guidance on disciplinary/grievance issues in terms of labour law and company procedure.

Educate management and staff on the application of the Industry Code of Conduct, the National Code of Conduct, and other relevant labour laws.

Manage the staff payroll.

Departmental Management:
-
Monitor and manage the performance of departmental staff daily.
-
Appraise the performance of departmental staff.
-
Ensure employee health and safety.
-
Prepare the Department’s input for budget purposes.
-
Monitor and report on budget performance and institute measures where necessary.

Contract Management:
-
Draft, review, and update employment contracts.
-
Maintain a centralized and organized repository of all employment contracts.
-
Track key milestones such as contract renewals, expirations, and renegotiation dates.
-
Identify, mitigate, and address risks related to contract terms.
-
Manage contracts with external HR service providers.
-
Support internal and external audits.

Qualifications
-
A Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Industrial Relations, Human Resources Management, or equivalent.
-
At least five years’ experience in a human resources management role, with at least three years in the FMCG sector.

Knowledge of Zimbabwean labour laws and regulations.
-
An HR professional qualification is an added advantage.
