Applications are invited from suitably qualified personnel to fill in the position of Horticulturalist for Rainbow Tourism Group. The position is based at Nyanga and Kadoma.

Duties

• Plan, manage and monitor the full horticultural crop production cycle (nursery to harvest)
• Ensure timely planting and harvesting to align with hotel consumption schedules.
• Implement best agricultural practices including soil management , irrigation , crop rotation and organic farming where applicable.
• Monitor and control pests and diseases and weeds using environmentally safe methods.
• Maintain accurate records of input usage , production volumes and yields.
• Coordinate with RTG hotels/procurement on vegetable requirements and delievery timelines.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
• Supervise estates workers and provide technical guidance and training.
• Recommend and oversee the procurement of appropriate inputs , equipment , and materials.
• Participate in budgeting, forecasting and reporting on Agro production.
• Drive sustainable and climate resilient farming practices.
• Liaise with relevant stakeholders for value addition.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Crop science or related field
• Minimum of 3 years practical experience in vegetable or crop production
• Experience in commercial farming or Agro processing for hospitality /agri-business is an added advantage
• Knowledge of good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and post-harvest landing standards
• Strong agronomic and technical knowledge of vegetable production
• Good planning and time management skills
• Ability to manage resources efficiently and meet production targets
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills
• High attention to detail and quality
• Excellent communication and reporting skills
• Ability to work independently in agro setting
