Agricultural Trainee – TIMB

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to fill the above positions that have arisen within the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB). The successful candidates will be based at TIMB Head Office.
Reports to: Training Officer
Duties
The successful candidates will be trained in the following areas:

Tobacco leaf appraisal skills (classification)

Handling cases of improper and suspicious tobacco presentation and deliveries in consultation with Senior Classifiers or Arbitrators on the sale

Identifying storage pests and symptoms of infestation on all bales of tobacco offered for sale, during factory inspections, at warehouses, re-handling facilities, and farms to ensure proper separation of infested tobacco

Collecting and collating data during sales and inspections for use in reports and tobacco sales statistics

Agricultural extension and communication

Agricultural business development and market information

Performing any other duties as guided by team leaders
Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Agriculture or equivalent from a recognised institution

Must be 30 years of age or below
